Hello and welcome to Part 2 of Tricky Tricks– The Apple Hacks Edition

In addition to all the hacks addressed last week, there are a few more Apple specific hacks worth raising awareness for. Let’s jump in:

Apple Watch

  1. Getting to the internet on an Apple watch. It is possible for kids to access the internet on an Apple watch. Two popular ways are by asking Siri and by having a friend text you a link to something.

PROTIP: Disable Siri, block Chrome & Safari and check usage history on the watch.

iPhone & iPad

  1. Chatting in secret through the Notes app

WARNING: I cannot find any solutions to monitoring or locking down the Apple Notes App. Just know this happens.

  1. Getting to the internet or apps through a secondary Apple ID. Some kids will set up a new Apple ID so they can access whatever they want.

PRO TIP: Toggle On ‘Don’t Allow Account Changes’ in the Parental Controls in the Content & Restrictions Section.

  1. Sharing photos via Airdrop. Kids will send pictures they don’t want parents to see using airdrop.

PROTIP: Disable Airdrop
